May 18th, 2016 – Senate Committee on Indian Affairs Legislative Hearing on Various Bills

The Senate Committee on Indian Affairs (Committee) will hold a legislative hearing on various bills on Wednesday, May 18th at 2:15 pm EST in Room 628 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building in Washington, D.C.

The Committee will receive testimony from witnesses on the following legislation:

  • S. 2785, a bill to protect Native children and promote public safety in Indian Country – introduced by Vice Chairman Jon Tester (D-MT);
  • S. 2916, a bill to provide that the Pueblo of Santa Clara may lease for 99 years certain restricted land, and for other purposes – introduced by Senator Tom Udall (D-NM); and
  • S. 2920, the Tribal Law and Order Reauthorization Act of 2016 – introduced by Chairman John Barrasso (R-WY).

Witnesses for live testimony are by invitation only and a list will be posted on the Committee’s website once confirmed.

The record will be open for two weeks after the hearing for written comments. A webcast of this hearing will be available on the scheduled hearing date on the Committee website.
