Dec. 8th Senate Indian Affairs Cmte Mark Up of S. 1763 and S. 1065

The Senate Committee on Indian Affairs will conduct a business meeting to consider S. 1763, the SAVE Native Women Act, and S. 1065, the Blackfoot River Land Settlement Act, on Thursday, December 8th, at 2:15 p.m. EST in Room 628 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building in Washington, D.C.

S. 1763 seeks to decrease the incidence of violent crimes against Indian women, to strengthen the capacity of Indian tribes to exercise the sovereign authority of Indian tribes to respond to violent crimes committed against Indian women, and to ensure that perpetrators of violent crimes committed against Indian women are held accountable for that criminal behavior, and for other purposes.

S. 1065 seeks to resolve land disputes along the Blackfoot River in Idaho on the Fort Hall Indian Reservation.
